BNS Records was founded in 2007. Although still a new
and growing company, the name is already well known in the indie band scene around Auckland
and other parts of the country.
The business was started by a small group of local musicians who were collectively frustrated with the business
of making music and trying to get it heard on the radio. Let's face it, you have very little chance of selling more than
a handfull of CD's unless the public hears at least one song from the disk on regular commercial radio.
Most new bands will send their mastered album or single to their local radio station and expect to start hearing it over
the airwaves in a few days. They may write an email or two and even make a phone call to the DJs at that station trying to get
it played. Then they give up and say it's to hard.
Believe me, if it were that simple, every new recording artist would hear themselves on the wireless. There are many ducks to line up in this business, before anyone will even open your mailed package or bother to read your email pleading them to listen to your CD, because your band is "up and coming and already has a huge following". Apart from close friends and a family member or two, creating that following is one of the steps involved in the row of ducks !

There are no magical formulas that will guarantee you will be heard in the music industry. It takes more than turning up your amps and letting the neigbourhood know you've chosen a career in music, and they had better get used to "calling noise control".
We don't profess to have all the answers, but we can guide you through some of the crucial steps you will need to follow and the lessons you need to learn just to have a chance at being heard or noticed. The rest is up to you.
