We organise and run live gigs at venues around Auckland. BNS Records believes that every aspiring band should have the chance to
strut their stuff on stage in front of a live audience. Although we can't offer a spot for everyone who applies, we will take a listen to your demos and give you feedback on suitability for the live shows. The PA system and sound tech is always supplied so you only need to bring your backline gear ie: Guitar amps - Drums - Instruments etc.
For some shows, we try to provide backline gear as well. This ensures a quick changeover between band sets and assists us in keeping the event running to schedule. Sometimes we will provide a guitar amp/speakers and bass amp/speakers along with a fully setup drum kit. The only thing you need to bring is a snare drum and any cymbols you wish to use. Guitarists need only bring their guitars and effects pedals. Each show is different and participating bands will be notified ahead of time if we are able to provide these items.
For bands that do not wish to use our gear, they will be slotted in around the bands that are sharing.
These live shows can be extremely valuable to bands looking at creating or increasing their following (fan generation). For this reason, BNS Records has the capacity to reward bands with a split of the door takings on the night (after expenses). This system relies on each band/act promoting themselves and their shows in order to get as many people to the show(s), as possible. The more people that attend, the more cash is available to pay out at the end of the night. Band Websites
Most bands have a myspace page and that is a great tool for gaining a bit of exposure. Through myspace you can send mail to endless people and try to steer them toward your page. If you get them there, you want them to listen to one of your songs right ? Then you want them to go to the trouble of emailing you and telling you how good they thought it was....
If you are serious about your act and future prospects, you need to invest a little money in your online persona. Your website can be the hub from which you keep your loyal fans abreast of new developements, new songs, latest pictures and where you are performing next. A well structured website will keep your visitors coming back for updates. The more they return, the quicker they learn the URL of your website.
To make it easier for them to remember your website location, why not have your own domain name (www.yourband.com for eg). Along with your own domain comes enough email addresses to keep the band members busy answering their own fan mail.
Apart from specialising in band website construction, computer graphics, flash animation and custom computer software for bands, BNS Records is able to manage your site to save you time. You send through the updates and we add them to your site. There are many packages available so let us create one to suit your budget.
In this day and age, anyone can point their digital camera at a bunch of band members huddled up and posing for their band photo. In many cases, these cheep photos are all you need to put up on your myspace page or to send to your mates. Professional photos however, make you stand out in a crowd. They say something about you, and by their very nature, are unique.
The main reason for this difference is quality of equipment, lighting and experience. The experienced photographer is able to capture moments on film or digital canvas, that reach out to be seen. A good band BIO is another important tool to have in your press kit. When dealing with any agents or music professionals, the first thing they ask for is your BIO or your Press Kit. We provide professional band bios which include both a full band bio, and individual member bios for the small cost of NZ $25 ($30 if you want it posted to you)

Song Production
Song production speaks for itself. Everyone knows your song or project needs to be produced and a lot of new artists tend to produce their own material. While this is a money saving idea, the knowledge of a producer will almost guarantee your song is highly polished.
Producers can play many roles and BNS Records offers song production which includes producing the mixdown of the final recording. We charge NZ $75 per song for demos. Professional LP/EP or singles: POA
